Name: Pasha Zusmanovich
Why did you come to Estonia?
I just got an opportunity to do my research there (Marie-Curie Fellowship). I was not specially targeting Estonia and have been applying to several places in several countries simultaneously.
What is the best thing about living in Estonia?
In Tallinn – very nice down-town. Generally European standards of living. Almost everything is nice and ordered. People are polite and helpful. Lot of cultural activities.
How would you describe your career perspective in Estonia?
I got an opportunity to return to academia after many years in Industry and using it now to the fullest. It’s hard to predict now where I will be after that, probably I will be applying for a permanent position in many places in many countries.
What was the hardest thing for you to adjust when you moved to Estonia?
Nothing really hard. Lots of Russian-speaking population (I am Russian myself) was a bit confusing in the beginning. I lost a lot in terms of salary but it is not specifically to Estonia, but to Industry-Academia move.
What do you miss from your home country?
The level of petty crime here is higher than I’m used to. People are not so smiling and cheerful like in Western Europe.
You should visit Estonia because…
